Vet Travel Docs supports a US$15 check for one personally owned dog or cat flying directly from Great Britain or any EU Member State to Canada.
What the check covers
- species, age, origin, accompaniment and personal-pet end use;
- the applicable rabies vaccination or rabies-free-country documentation;
- consistency of the supplied veterinary and journey information;
- the original documents that should accompany the animal; and
- clear outstanding actions and external carrier or local requirements.
Pet dogs are not normally placed in post-import quarantine in Canada when the applicable requirements are met. An inspector may require corrective action when documents or requirements are not satisfactory.
Non-commercial boundary
This service is not for a pet being sold, adopted, rehomed, transferred as breeding stock or otherwise changing ownership. Commercial dogs—especially those under eight months—can require permits, kennel-of-origin evidence, additional certificates and end-use-specific controls.
Carrier acceptance and provincial, territorial and municipal requirements remain separate from the federal import check.
