Pet Travel from the UAE to the European Union

Reviewed by Vet Travel Docs on 17 September 2026. Official requirements can change; the linked government sources remain authoritative.

Vet Travel Docs supports check-only journeys for one dog, cat or ferret flying directly from the United Arab Emirates into any of the 27 EU Member States. The service costs AED 55. It checks the supplied journey, microchip, rabies, traveller and destination-specific information; it does not create or issue the official EU Animal Health Certificate.

What we check

  • microchip and rabies-vaccination chronology, minimum age and the 21-day primary-vaccination wait;
  • rabies validity on the intended first EU entry date;
  • owner or authorised-person movement and the applicable five-day relationship;
  • the destination Member State and accepted certificate language guidance;
  • dog tapeworm treatment 24 to 120 hours before entry into Finland, Ireland or Malta; and
  • the official certificate issue window and non-commercial declaration requirements.

Important route limits

This initial service covers direct air entry into the selected destination Member State. You must confirm that the actual airport is a currently designated travellers’ point of entry and contact the competent authority there for the documentary and identity checks. Carrier acceptance, national breed controls, accommodation, onward travel and return rules remain separate.

Official documents

The official EU Animal Health Certificate must be completed by an official veterinarian, or an authorised veterinarian followed by competent-authority endorsement. The UAE MOCCAE export process, veterinary examination, official signatures, stamps and endorsement remain outside Vet Travel Docs.

The UAE is listed for the EU titre exemption, so an ordinary direct movement does not require a rabies antibody titration test solely because it starts in the UAE.
