Pet Travel from the United States to Great Britain

Reviewed by Vet Travel Docs on 17 September 2026. Official requirements can change; the linked government sources remain authoritative.

Dogs, cats and ferrets travelling non-commercially from the United States to Great Britain generally need a Great Britain pet health certificate completed through the US veterinary and USDA endorsement process. Vet Travel Docs supports the direct US-to-GB route with a combined US$25 check and supported official-form PDF preparation service.

What we check

  • microchip and rabies-vaccination chronology;
  • minimum age, primary waiting period, boosters and travel validity;
  • owner or authorised-person timing;
  • dog tapeworm-treatment timing where applicable;
  • the proposed direct carrier and Great Britain arrival point against the controlled route source; and
  • the customer-provided information used for supported fields in the official form.

What PDF preparation means

The prepared file remains an official government form without Vet Travel Docs branding. We populate only customer-preparable facts. Veterinary examination, professional decisions, signature, stamp, official dates and references, USDA APHIS endorsement and border admission remain with the appropriate veterinarian and authorities.

Important limits

This route is for a direct journey from the United States to Great Britain. A first entry into the EU creates a different two-leg journey and is not silently treated as direct. Carrier schedules and acceptance, assistance-dog arrangements, US appointment availability and the return journey remain separate.
